Their internationally binding test catalogue is based on scientifically proven parameters and is revised annually to align with the latest research. The testing criteria is so comprehensive that it often goes beyond existing legislation, making it the most complete test and research association for textiles in the world. Oeko-Tex tests for legally banned and controlled substances, like carcinogenic colorants, as well as chemicals known to be harmful but are not yet legally controlled, like pesticides, allergenic dyes, or tin-organic compounds. Other precautionary parameters are also required, like color fastness and a skin-friendly pH-value.
